'The Cape' by Guy Clark has a great line in the song about a young boy,  "No one told him he could not fly, and so he did". 

That's a good parable for the Heartwood Folk Club. After all who would expect great music here in Athabasca?

Peter Opryshko and Shirley Stashko's brainchild has resulted in 9 years of wonderful music in Athabasca. 

What would it be like to invite all your friends over to your house, and have live music? Well that was the original concept that they had 9 years ago. 

Since then the Heartwood family has continued to grow as Peter brings in some truly gifted musicians from around Alberta, Canada and the world. 

There have been many musicians who have played in Athabasca, some in Edmonton and Grassland.  It all started in 1997 with the amazing Laura Love and her very rocking band.
